Further HIV screen tests will be implemented for women

In April of 2014, there was a report headed by the federal task force in relation to the advice by the doctors for women to go through regular STD Screening. This is meant for American women who are sexually active and girls ages 24 and above. This aims to lower the risk rate of the people against chlamydia & gonorrhea, which typically do not have any signs. They are composed of a group of experts who also seem to recommend the screening for older women who are at risk of contracting the disease, thus give intensive counseling to people of any age group who are at most risk of having STDs.

A lot of women with Common STDs like gonorrhea & chlamydia do not suffer from any signs, so they are not aware that they have it. They are at risk for having long term complications that include inflammation of the pelvis, possible infertility, severe pelvic pain and others according to Dr. LeFevre. He happened to be the chairman of the task for the said drive. Further STD Screening and early detection can possibly save these women from suffering from the said complications. The task force also uses some studies to formulate recommendations for doctors about the best technique that can take care of the patients. The new draft studies update and then make the previous recommendations simpler and that was what the task force had issued in the years 2005, 2007 & 2008 respectively.

Preventing the possible spreading of the Common STDs

According to the record released by LeFevre, the statistics have shown that there were more than 1.4M instances of chlamydia in 2011 alone in the US, while more than 800,000 individuals have had gonorrhea yearly. Women can now be checked for the said diseases using urine tests. The study has shown that the treatment for chlamydia & gonorrhea can make a big difference in the lives of the women thus it will help them prevent future medical problems as well.

This recommendation is applicable to anyone who is sexually; regardless of the age that includes pregnant women of more than 24 years old. The task force usually determines teens as those ages 12-18. Parents are not required to be involved in the screening for the cases of STDs among kids, he added. This is because in most of the states in the US and so with the District of Columbia enable minors to get the treatment for STDs even without their permission. The age is a strong factor for STDs like chlamydia & gonorrhea. Those who are sexually active around age 20-24 years old have the highest risk of being infected, then followed by women who are 15-19 years old. The infection rates among men are highest from ages 20-24. The new report says that women older than 24 years old must be screened if they are at risk.
