STDS Can Cause Blindness
What do you know about STDs? It is not enough. Hardly, while STDs are no discussed over the table, you might almost think that the T in STDs stands for taboo. Well, to some extent, it really does. But burying our head in the sand and ignoring this very important topic does not mean that there are no sexually transmitted infections because there are many of them. In fact, every year, more than 20 million Americans are infected. That is a huge number and tell you what… these are not among people who regularly have sex, but among teenagers and young adults spanning ages of 15 through 24, or thereabouts.
Very important facts about STDs you should know
You might think it is the flu
Well, when you feel gloomy, unhappy, fatigued, sore throat and so on, you might think that you have caught the flu, or the common cold. But that is not it. Even a serious infection like HIV starts with such symptoms where you experience a rash, sore throat, heat flushes and other symptoms that we mostly associate with the flu. As you wait for it to pass, it doesn’t. You get worse and the thought of going for an STD test does not cross your mind. So the virus thrives. By the time you get to the hospital, the doctor recognizes the signs and recommends a test for HIV, and there… you have it.
When there is a swelling in the nether region
A swelling means that your body has noticed there is an infection and it is trying to fight that infection. Swellings are an indication of the body producing more white blood cells for extra defense, which in return affects the lymph nodes and causes them to swell. Depending on your gender, you may experience the swelling in different parts of your private part. For example, men might even experience swollen testicles. Women may experience swelling in their mom’s pubis.
There are no symptoms for most of the STDs
This is true and while they may have some signs, most of them are only manifested in the very developed stages of the disease. By then, the damage is already done and treatment will be hefty. Take for example a disease like gonorrhea and Chlamydia, both of them very serious but exhibiting no symptoms. This means when you are already sick, you could be going on infecting other people without knowing.
Some may cause you to lose your site
They are diseases of the genital regions, but they can still cause blindness. For example, Chlamydia is known for that. So if you suspect someone you slept with passed you an infection, please go for a checkup as soon as you can.
You may experience anal/rectal pain
With many people exploring many sexual fantasies and desires, it is not hard to get an infection through the rectal area. Sex usually causes tiny rupturing of the soft and delicate skin, because of the friction. Thus, if you feel pain when passing stool and you know you have tried it, you should go for a checkup.
May lead to infertility to both men and women
Infection in the uterus may lead to infertility in women. Infection in the testes may lead to infertility in men. This may be irreversible, or in some cases, it could be reversible. It is best to be checked up.
